Museum Protection
Training Program

Here it is... Our ULTIMATE MUSEUM PROTECTION TRAINING PROGRAM

We begin with a one-hour staff briefing, for the entire facility staff, on security awareness and improved public relations/customer service. This briefing does much to enhance interdepartmental cooperation, and is overwhelmingly accepted at every level.

Next - it's a full day of Basic Protection Training for the security staff. The program includes critical information about legal restrictions, use of force, report writing, conflict resolution, protection of valuable collections, and more. You won't find a program of higher quality, or content anywhere. Attendees receive credit towards certification as Certified Institutional Protection Specialist (CIPS).

And to put a cap on a very full day, we return late in the evening to conduct safety oriented training on night time patrols, both interior and exterior, with an emphasis on life safety, fire prevention and preventive maintenance reporting.

This outstanding program is presented by Stevan P. Layne, CPP, CIPM. Steve has an international reputation as a dynamic, entertaining presenter, with exceptional information and experience in loss prevention, conflict resolution, violence prevention and security management. He has informed and entertained audiences throughout the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, and is a keynote presenter for several business organizations. Steve is a founding director of the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection, author of The Cultural Property Protection Manual, and co-author of Suggested Guidelines in Museum Security. He is a graduate of the FBI's Police Management Program.

This full-day of exceptional training includes our copyrighted multi-media package, detailed handout packet, and PowerPoint diskette. No restrictions on audience size. You can (and we strongly suggest you do) invite neighboring institutions to participate and share the cost.
