Mark C. Peterson, CIPT, CIPI

Mark Peterson is Senior Design Director and regular presenter for Layne Consultants International, and Principal of M. C. Peterson & Associates, an independent security consulting and design firm. Mr. Peterson has more than 30 years of experience in the design, specification, deployment, and project management of large-scale integrated security solutions including: smart cards, intrusion detection, physical access control, video surveillance, and communications systems. Mr. Peterson regularly provides technology and design counsel to end-users, as they work to migrate to new secure access control and identification technologies. He currently serves as chairman of SIA’s Security Application Standards subcommittee, Technology Advisor for the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP), and member of The Protection Alliance.

Mark possesses extensive security industry product knowledge as well as expertise in electronic security system acquisition and implementation. He has conducted informational sessions for The American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), BICSI Regional Conferences, IP Institute, and numerous other professional conferences. Mark is chairman of the Security Industry Association (SIA) Applications Standards subcommittee; developing standards for the design of security systems providing predicable performance.

Mark’s extensive experience in the industry include the conduct of security surveys, security program development, security system design and specification, security system policy and procedure development, testing procedure development and management, and determination of vendor qualification. Mr. Peterson has a BA degree in Management with an emphasis in Marketing. He also has Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, and a two-year Electrical Engineering Technician certificate. Mark is also a Certified Institutional Protection Technician and Technical Advisor for the International Foundation of Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP). Mark is active in the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and a member of Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI). Mark is considered to be a leading integrated security management system design experts.
